Hello world!

“Hello World” is even in WordPress blogs! Anyway, welcome to the blog portion of my webpage!

I have over 17 years of testing experience. Most of this has been performing manual testing, but I have implemented some automation. I have tested almost all aspects of applications. One area I don’t have much experience would be security testing.

I worked at Total Systems (TSYS), now owned by Global Payments, for 12 years. I worked out of their Golden, CO, office for 9 years, and then moved to Florida and worked for TSYS for 3 years. Right before they were bought by Global Payments I was let go. No hard feelings. TSYS treated me well over those 12 years.

After I left TSYS, I started my own financial coaching business. I ran my own business for a little over a year before covid shut it down. I enjoyed helping people with their personal finances. Unfortunately, being a salesman is not one of my talents, and a financial coach needs to sell their services. Somehow Ramsey Solutions didn’t mention the salesman part in their training, but I still would have taken the training.

After a year of hanging out with the family during covid, my wife and I decided to buy a camper and sell our house! We never owned a camper before, so this would be something different for us. We did our research and bought the right camper for us. Selling the house wasn’t hard to do in 2021. We traveled through 46 states in 2021 and 2022. I’ll have a post about this at some point.

After 18 months of traveling, we made it back to Cape Coral, FL, after Hurricane Ian delayed us a month. I worked remote for Zeotek, Inc. (Broomfield, CO) on an 8-month contract. After completing that contract, I decided to start learning Selenium to automate web pages. This is mostly what this blog will be on.

Let me set some expectations. Although I consider myself to be an expert when it comes to testing, by no means am I an expert when it comes to coding. The code on these blog pages works (I am a tester after all <wink, wink>), but it’s quite possible there is a better implementation/design for it. This is where a dev team, and especially a dev lead, could assist me. I have also been using ChatGPT to help in some areas with the implementation/design. It’s been going well I think.

Enjoy the posts and learn more about me. I hope to add posts about testing, automation testing, Selenium Webdriver, and a few other topics. The other topics will be used to showcase automation.
